Technique Challenge

Postby wizardwife on Fri Jul 03, 2009 5:58 pm

What is everybody up to this weekend? How about a challenge? After a couple of weeks rest from the Top Trends Competition I am sure you are ready for something new ;)
How about trying some stitching on a layout? Before I scrapped I cross-stitched so I have heaps of lovely coloured threads for hand-stitching. Pre-punch a design with a paper piercer or a pin and stitch using a back-stitch. That is what I have done with this layout.

If you're not into handstitching, do you have a sewing machine? I invested in one when I was pregnant with great ambitions of making clothes and things. I have actually made a few costumes and re-hemmed some things but mostly I have used it for scrapbooking. In this layout I have just stitched straight lines to create a grid.

So, get stitching on a layout. Post your picture in the general gallery by July 15 and you'll go in the draw for a Crafty Tart voucher.

Thanks for the nice comments ladies. Stitching is an easy and economical way to embellish your layouts. Another thing I like to do, and Puffy this might interest you as a non-sewer, is fake stitching. It is actually just drawing little dashed lines as elements on your layouts. It sounds simple (and it is) but can be really effective. It looks great in white (see Uniball white gel pen in store) or metallic but you're only limited by the colour pens you have. :)
